Dr. Stephanie Pierce, DVM, DACVIM (SAIM)

Veterinary medicine has always been a significant part of Dr. Pierce’s life. There are seven veterinarians in her family including her grandfather, father, uncle, and brother.  Dr. Pierce grew up in Lexington, Kentucky, and prior to veterinary school, she worked as a Veterinary Assistant at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital.

Dr. Pierce received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Pierce worked in small animal general practice and as an emergency veterinarian. She then began a residency program in Small Animal Veterinary Internal Medicine at the Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center (VSEC) in Overland Park, KS. Dr. Pierce became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (DACVIM) in 2009. Dr. Pierce continued to work as a Small Animal Internal Medicine Specialist at VSEC, which eventually became Blue Pearl Pet Hospital, for many years.

In 2016, Dr. Pierce transitioned into a career in the animal health pharmaceutical industry. She has worked for Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health and Kindred Bio in clinical development designing studies for both FDA and USDA approval of new animal drugs. Dr. Pierce is currently the Director of Clinical Development for ACI Biosciences. Dr. Pierce has a unique knowledge of veterinary drug development and conducting clinical trials. After several years in the animal health pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Pierce felt compelled to return to practice. She founded Kansas City Veterinary Specialty Associates, LLC (KCVSA) in order to offer internal medicine consulting services to general practitioners in the Kansas City metro area. Dr. Pierce has a passion for using her knowledge to solve complex medical problems and help pets and their owners receive the best possible care available. In her free time, Dr. Pierce enjoys watching her kids play soccer and perform in musical theater, choir, and band. She’s a huge fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Sporting KC, and Kentucky basketball, enjoys music and theater, and loves traveling and trying new restaurants. She is a passionate supporter of Not One More Vet (www.nomv.org) and strives to pay it forward for all her mentors as much as possible.
